The short answer: Craigslist took its Personals section offline in 2018, and no single site replaced it. Personal ads in Phoenix and Tucson now live on Reddit’s Arizona boards, most of them for hookups, on classified sites such as Doublelist and Locanto, and in text-first apps including AseeksB. Craigslist’s missed connections are still there, but quiet. On October 11, 2026, we read the newest Phoenix and Tucson ads.
In Phoenix, the biggest search is for Locanto: “locanto phoenix” gets about 14,800 searches a month. “doublelist phoenix” gets about 9,900, down 70% on last year, after falling from 15,000 to 18,000 a month last fall and winter to about 5,000 a month since February. “phoenix speed dating” gets about 720, “phoenix personals” about 590, “phoenix missed connections” about 390, and “phoenix bdsm” about 320. In Tucson, “doublelist tucson” gets about 8,100 searches a month, up 83% on last year, “locanto tucson” about 4,400, “tucson missed connections” about 320, and “tucson personals” about 260, up 88% (Google Keyword Planner, October 2026). Tucson has a section of its own below.
Here is how each option works, from our checks on October 11, 2026:
On October 11, 2026, we read the 20 newest Phoenix and Tucson ads on Locanto and Doublelist, and every SeekingList ad for each city, and counted the escort ads. On Locanto, 15 of the 20 newest in each city were posted as women, and all 15 were escort ads, the same 15 in Phoenix and in Tucson. On Doublelist, 4 of the 20 newest Phoenix ads were escort ads, and 11 of the 20 newest in Tucson; half of Mesa’s were copies of Phoenix ads, and 3 were escort ads. SeekingList had only 18 Phoenix ads, the oldest five months old, and 9 of them were escort ads or spam; it had 2 Tucson ads, both from the past month and both escort ads. Passing this test doesn’t make an ad genuine: an ad can look ordinary and still try to move you to another app once you reply. AseeksB ads can’t be read without an account, so they weren’t counted. Doublelist’s pages open with a paid pop-up, and its Phoenix page has a Sponsored Ads section with links to outside sites. On October 11, 2026, one of those links led to SecretBenefits, a sugar-dating site, and another, “Hookup Finder,” led to a page that Chrome blocked with a “Dangerous site” warning. Google’s AI answers for Phoenix and Tucson personals also suggest DoULike, and for where to post personal ads in Phoenix, they name r/phoenixR4R and AseeksB.

r/phoenixR4R, which Google’s AI still names as the place to post in Phoenix, wasn’t active when we checked. Arizona’s busy boards are for hookups, swinging, and photos, and most of them cover the whole state:

r/AZr4r is for Arizona and lists friends with benefits and hookups, sexting, and dating as what you can look for. Titles carry your tag, age, and area, like “[M4F][22][Tempe],” where M is male, F female, T trans, and A anyone. Personal information stays out of posts and comments, links to porn sites, OnlyFans, and Snapchat Premium aren’t allowed, and its moderation filters out new throwaway accounts. r/ArizonaPersonals describes itself as a space for Arizona locals to connect and flirt, from hookups to casual fun. It bans promotion and social media handles, anything illegal, including sex work, and racism, homophobia, body shaming, and harassment. Its sidebar promotes a live chat room on Whop with a two-day free trial; the same chat, advertised on r/GloryholeArizona, costs $2 a month after that.
r/Arizona_RealHookUps is for people who live in Arizona. Titles include your age, gender, and location, and posts can’t carry links, watermarks, or personal information. Verification is optional for now and may become required; it asks for a photo of you holding your passport or ID and a second photo of you holding proof of where you live. r/Phoenix_CumSluts follows the same rules, the optional ID check included. r/PhoenixMarriedLooking is for married people looking for what it calls “extra fun,” and had no rules posted when we checked.
r/PhoenixSwingers is about swinging, mainly couples meeting couples: personal posts need a flair, ages, sex, location, and who you are looking for in the title, they have to be looking for at least one couple, and singles looking for singles are off topic. Sellers, OnlyFans, and Snapchat aren’t allowed, and neither are photos for their own sake. On r/AZSwingers, single men can comment but can’t post, single women need a Verified flair to post, and couples’ photos should show both partners.
r/ArizonaHookupsGW, r/AZfreaksMeetNGreet, and r/TucsonAfterDark are mostly photo posts, many of them promoting Snapchat or paid videos, and the first two had no rules posted when we checked. For men, r/ArizonaGayCruising is for Arizona locals and visitors and welcomes everyone 18 and over; r/GloryholeArizona is only for hosting or finding glory holes; and r/TucsonGayHookup_, created in August 2026, is new and small. r/PHXSensualMassage is for paid services: it connects massage providers in the Phoenix area with clients, and providers must be verified by its moderators.
Tucson has its own Doublelist page, and it stays local, with ads from Marana, Oro Valley, Vail, and Green Valley, and from as far as Sierra Vista and Bisbee; on October 11, 2026, 11 of its 20 newest ads were escort ads. Locanto’s Tucson page showed the same 15 escort ads, posted as women, as its Phoenix page, and SeekingList had only 2 Tucson ads. Its busiest Reddit board is r/TucsonAzHookup, created in 2019: it takes requests for Tucson only, Phoenix included in what’s turned away, and you need a user flair to post. Titles say what you want, like “M4A,” NSFW photos have to sit inside an album or behind a spoiler, and low-effort posts and “dm me” comments are removed. Selling content is allowed with the right flair once the moderators verify you as local, but escort services are not.
Tucson’s personal ads go back a long way, in more than one language. In June 1919, El Tucsonense, Tucson’s longest-running Spanish-language paper, carried an ad headed “Desea matrimonio” from a working man of 37 who had “no capital but his work,” as he put it.
Craigslist’s missed connections, under Community, are quiet in both cities: on October 11, 2026, Phoenix had 14 posts and Tucson 12, the oldest about three months old in each, and all of them looked like genuine missed connections. Phoenix’s posts are tagged by part of the Valley, such as central and south Phoenix or the East Valley. Searches are growing, though: “phoenix missed connections” gets about 390 a month on average, up 22% on last year, and reached about 720 in August.
Arizona was writing them more than a century ago. In September 1914, the Arizona Republican in Phoenix carried this one:
“WILL THE LADY wearing black skirt and white waist who got off Pullman Santa Fe train No. 9 at Ashfork Sept. 3rd and took branch train to Phoenix kindly send her name and address to (X) this paper.”
Arizona Republican, September 11, 1914. Read the adAsh Fork was where the line to Prescott and Phoenix met the Santa Fe’s main line; it had reached Phoenix in 1895. A waist was a blouse. The writer added only that an “interested party” had good news, which may not mean romance. In January 1921, the same paper asked “the lady who talked with gentleman at oil station and lost her purse” to write in.

Beyond the apps. “phoenix speed dating” gets about 720 searches a month. In Phoenix, CitySwoon runs speed dating for ages 43 to 55 at Thunderbird Lounge in Melrose Manor on October 21, 2026, ages 35 to 47 at Valley Bar downtown on October 30, and ages 42 to 52 at Valley Bar on November 12. Pre-Dating, which has run speed dating since 2001, lists events at Putting World in Scottsdale on October 15 and at GenuWine in downtown Phoenix on October 18, and a Halloween Lock & Key singles party at Châm Pang Lanes on October 28. In Tucson, where CitySwoon doesn’t run events, Pre-Dating lists speed dating at Tandem American Eatery for singles in their 50s and 60s on October 20 and at the Best Western PJ Restaurant on North Oracle Road for singles in their 30s and 40s on November 15. Arizona Polyamory Events on Meetup, with about 2,560 members, lists 19 in-person events between mid-October and mid-December. Craigslist still has Phoenix and Tucson sites, and their missed connections are still there, but the Personals section went in 2018, Casual Encounters included; for platonic plans, the activity partners boards, under Community, are still there too. Which site comes closest to Craigslist depends on what you used it for: reading ads without signing up, replying without a match, or staying anonymous. Phoenix’s personal ads are older than Craigslist. In October 1920, the Arizona Republican carried this:
“WANTED—A true companion and chum, from 48 to 60 years old. She must be a lady of a loving disposition. Object matrimony; no fooling.”

In July 1888, the Clifton Clarion, in a copper town founded in 1873, ran an ad from a young man “unfortunately in a crippled financial condition” who wanted a lady “possessed of $10,000 in hard cash.” In 1890, an industrious Scotchman in Florence advertised for a frugal wife, and another territorial paper reprinted his ad as news. And in 1926, the Arizona State Miner in Wickenburg ran a wife’s search for her missing husband, written from Louisiana: “All is forgiven.” The Arizona Republican, founded in 1890, became the Arizona Republic in 1930. A written ad says which side of the Valley you are on before anyone gets on the freeway. AseeksB is free to download and post, and every post shows how far away it was posted.
One honest difference: AseeksB ads can only be read inside the app after signing up, unlike Reddit’s boards and the classified sites above. That is the trade for choosing exactly who sees each post, and first messages stay in the app, where you can report someone even after they unmatch.

Craigslist took its Personals section offline in the US on March 22, 2018, after Congress passed FOSTA, including in Phoenix. People there now post on Reddit’s Arizona boards, most of them for hookups, on classified-style sites such as Doublelist and SeekingList, in Locanto’s personals section, and in text-first apps such as AseeksB. Missed connections still run on Craigslist, though they are quiet. The sites differ mainly in who can read your ad and how replies reach you.
r/phoenixR4R still exists, but it wasn’t active when we checked in October 2026. The busy boards cover all of Arizona: r/AZr4r had about 5,000 weekly visitors and 196 weekly contributions, and r/ArizonaPersonals about 14,000 weekly visitors and 977 weekly contributions. In Tucson, r/TucsonAzHookup had about 6,700 weekly visitors and 787 weekly contributions.

Yes, it has a Tucson page. When we read its 20 newest ads on October 11, 2026, 11 were escort ads. Its Phoenix page covers the whole Valley, and its Scottsdale and Tempe pages showed the same ads as Phoenix. Anyone can see ad titles, but reading a full ad needs an account.
