Context

September 11, 1914, was a Friday, and the ad ran again on September 12, 13, and 14. Ash Fork, which the ad spells Ashfork, was where the branch line to Prescott and Phoenix met the Santa Fe’s main line; the branch had reached Phoenix in 1895. A waist was a blouse. Unlike most notices that open with “Will the lady,” this one may not be about romance: the writer says only that an interested party has good news. The closing bg is the paper’s insertion code, used to track the ad. For where people in Phoenix and Tucson post missed connections now, see our guide to personal ads in Phoenix and Tucson.
