Context

February 26, 1922, was a Sunday. A helpmeet was a helper and partner, usually a wife, a word that grew out of the King James Bible’s “help meet” for Adam. She sets the man’s upper age at 55, 23 years older than she is, and describes herself as the wife she would be. The closing 1t is the printer’s insertion code: one time.
